Taping

Sports taping Brisbane

Kinesiology taping (commonly called K Tape) is the application of a thin, elastic, cotton tape to reduce stress on injuries and assist with inflammatory conditions. K-Taping can be used to temporarily reinforce a posture or position or to assist with lymphatic return.

Rocktape is a leading brand of Kinesio tape and the product we choose for our taping. K Tape can also be used to assist a lot of sporting activities and injuries, and is often thought of as Sports Taping. You can have taping as part of Remedial or Sports Massage, or Myotherapy.

Common uses and benefits of K Tape

  1. Pain Relief – Positioning structures into beneficial positions reduces pain

  2. Swelling Reduction – By lifting the skin, K-tape improves lymphatic return, reducing swelling and other inflammatory conditions quickly.

  3. Reduce Muscle Fatigue – K tape provides physical and neurological support for the muscles it is applied to

  4. Gets you back in the game quick – Supporting irritated structures allows them to be put through range of motion with less stress – improving outcomes.

You can also request taping. Taping is included in Myotherapy treatments, but there is an additional cost of $10 if you have it as part of a Remedial Massage. Taping will often be provided in conjunction with other techniques such as

  • Dry Needling

  • Myofascial release

  • Trigger Point therapy

  • Low level laser therapy

How Do I Book?

If you are unsure about what kind of treatment to have you can call us to discuss your needs. Generally if you are dealing with an injury and pain, especially if this has been ongoing Myotherapy would be the best place to start. If you are experiencing a strain then a Remedial treatment will be fine. If you want to work with someone for sports massage treatments you can discuss with them when taping might be best.
